Is Salt Good for You?

The health media has been talking to us for decades about conventional salt. It raises blood pressure, promotes heart and kidney disease and even assists in forming cellulite!

Here’s the reason why:

Table salt is not 100% salt. Conventional salt contains aluminum, anti-caking agents, moisture absorbents, and in some brands even sugar! All of the natural trace minerals that your body needs to sustain health, were taken out during processing. But before you give up on salt altogether, let me tell you about the original form of salt (known as sea salt) that you can easily get your hands on.

Sea salt:

· Helps regulate blood pressure

· Contains trace minerals that help our bodies function properly

· Enhances digestion

· And nourishes our adrenal glands, which is what helps our energy levels (sea salt does plenty more, but I think you get the idea)

We’re not meant to deny ourselves of salt and there is a fabulous array of sea salts out on the market…to get you started, some noteworthy ones are Celtic (grayish color), Redmond’s Real Salt, or even the pink Himalayan sea salts…try them all! They’re available @ co-ops, Whole Foods and in most stores that offer a natural health foods section. As for your table salt, that’s great to put on your icy sidewalk in the winter!
